Donation Refund Policy

At Jan Akanksha, we’re committed to fairness and openness, which is why we’re introducing a donation refund policy. In today’s digital age, online payments are more common, and we want to ensure that refund requests are handled with transparency and integrity. We understand that sometimes mistakes happen, or circumstances change, and donors may wish to reconsider their contributions.

We trust that all our donors give thoughtfully, but we also acknowledge that errors can occur. If you find yourself in a situation where you need a donation refunded, we’re here to help. Our team will carefully assess each request and do everything possible to process the refund promptly. Sometimes, we might need additional information or documentation, and we appreciate your cooperation in these instances.

However, while we strive to assist, Jan Akanksha reserves the right to decline refund requests at its discretion, especially if a tax exemption certificate has already been issued.

This policy defines when Jan Akanksha Regional and Branch Offices may provide a refund for a donation. It applies specifically to non-earmarked donations. Please note that donations designated for a particular project or as part of corporate social responsibility initiatives are non-refundable.”

Once donations processed successfully through the payment gateway or any other means will not be refunded. Please choose the cause you wish to support and the amount you wish to contribute carefully. No amount will be deducted in case the transaction fails to process. No donation is small when it comes to helping the underprivileged section of our society. If you would like your donation to Jan Akanksha to be refunded :
If an error is made in making a donation or if the donor changes their mind, we will honour all requests for refund that are made in writing within 15 (fifteen) days of the date the donation was made. The written refund request should include the details of the initial transaction including date, donation amount, donor’s name, ID, tax invoice number and the nature of the error.

• Jan Akanksha will fully examine all requests for refund and endeavour to ensure that genuine errors are rectified. However, after 15days Jan Akanksha is under no obligation to give refunds and the decision on refunds will be at Jan Akanksha’s discretion.
• Jan Akanksha will only process refunds on return of tax exemption certificate or a written declaration that the previous receipt will not be used by donor.
• Based on the written request from a donor, amount is adjusted by Jan Akanksha, the original donor receipt issued for the incorrect amount will become invalid and a new receipt will be issued by Jan Akanksha for the amount of the adjusted donation.
• Jan Akanksha reserves the right to pass any refund transaction charged onto the donor.
• Refunds will be returned using the original method of payment – for example if a donation has been made by credit card, the refund will be credited by Jan Akanksha to that same credit card.
• Should an error be made by Jan Akanksha or our financial institution(s), a refund of the full amount will be made once Jan Akanksha is notified of the error in writing.
RESPONSIBILITY AND POLICY OWNER
The principal owners of this policy are:
• Regional Director- Resource Mobilisation, Jan Akanksha.
• Director– Finance, Jan Akanksha
• National Treasure- Jan Akanksha
The owner is responsible for implementing the policy and achieving the desired outcomes.
All Jan Akanksha employees and volunteers responsible for receiving and processing donations shall:
• Respect and value all those who donate to Jan Akanksha
• Ensure donation processes are secure and transparent
• Build trusting relationships with regular donors and partners
• Respond proactively to any issues arising with regard to donation refunds
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with those who request a refund and raise any issues or concerns
• That arise with Jan Akanksha management regarding donation refunds

All decisions of Jan Akanksha in this regard will be final and binding on the donor.
